About Us

The Sun Prairie Public Library Foundation is based on a shared belief that the library provides a safe and inviting place for community members of all ages to enjoy lifelong learning.  

It was founded in 1999 to manage donations and create an endowment for the Library.  These funds allow the library to go above and beyond its City funding to achieve exceptional levels of service, programming, and technology for the community.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and operates independently of any government oversight. It is governed by articles of incorporation, by-laws, and an investment policy for the endowment.

The Sun Prairie Public Library Foundation does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. Our Team

Theresa Stevens
Executive Director

Theresa joined the Foundation as their first full-time Executive Director in September of 2021.  As an active community leader in Sun Prairie, she brings not only experience in non-profit marketing and communications but also a rich awareness of our community's needs.  Theresa's vision is to promote a thoughtful, strategic and compassionate approach to development in support of our community’s greatest treasure, our library.

Cindy Stankey
Foundation Development Specialist

Cindy has been with the Foundation since 2012 and manages many of the day to day, behind the scenes, operations.  She also serves as the Circulation Manager at the Sun Prairie Public Library.  You've probably seen her there, as she has worked in Circulation Services since 2005.  Prior to this Cindy educated her children at home after retiring from a 17 year stint as a Metallurgical Engineer performing failure and material analysis.
