The Next Chapter Expansion & Renovation Project is going to have a significant impact on our community, and the next generation of readers. The community has grown more than 80% since the library opened in 1999! Many programs have become popular to the point some attendees are being turned away, something we never want to happen at the public library. Through careful planning, numerous community engagement sessions spanning 5 years, and multiple revisions to the design, we are excited for the next chapter of our storied 123 years of library service in Sun Prairie. Highlights of the Project

Atrium

Allow for program overflow from the Community Room at peak times, create a welcoming reading and community meetup space, event space, and afterhours materials pickups.

Youth Programing Space

Imagine the possibilities! A space where friendships and community are built for our young families, a space to learn and build early literacy skills, and a space large enough to accommodate all attendees!

Local History

A new dedicated space within the library to explore genealogy, learn about our shared local history, and historical displays. This space is generously supported by Mary Bell

Additional Meeting & Study Room

Meeting and study spaces are in high demand at the library, and the project will add 5 discussion rooms as demonstrated here, as well as 6 other rooms with seats of 2-4 people. Collaborate with colleagues, take hybrid business calls, receive tutoring or other supports in-person or virtually in this great spaces.

Teen Space

A dedicated space for teens to interact, work together on projects, pick up a new hobby, or decompress after a long day at school. This space has been generously supported by Rita Tubbs.

Amphitheater Outdoor Programing Space

The Kind Stage will be a welcoming outdoor space for performances ranging from speakers to musicians to joyful entertainers for all ages. Amphitheater seats are being sold through the Library Foundation, get yours today!

$1,000 per seat, up to 25 characters with recommendations of first and last name or "X Family", with the ability to pledge for 5 years with the pledge form

Makerspace

An incredible space of creativity, hands-on learning, technology and art! A sound recording and a video recording studio will be available in collaboration with the Sun Prairie Media Center, with plans for a cooking demo station, sewing machines, project spaces, and more!
